Matt Frucci has been named executive producer of "NBC Nightly News," starting October 6, following his return from paternity leave.
He will also continue producing Tom Llamas’ “Top Story” and NBC News Now.
Frucci, who previously led weekend editions of “Nightly News” and covered major events like the January 6 Capitol attack, brings experience from CNN and a 2016 move to NBC News.
Executive Vice President Janelle Rodriguez highlighted the show’s recent gains in the 25-54 demographic, noting it outperformed ABC’s “World News Tonight” on some nights, though ABC still leads in overall viewership.
The transition follows the hiring of former “Nightly News” EP Meghan Rafferty by Versant, which oversees MSNBC and CNBC.
