Justin Keith Debourgeois, 27, a Jasper County resident convicted of aggravated robbery and linked to a 2018 fatal shooting, was returned to Texas from Colorado after fleeing months ago to avoid a 13-year sentence.
He had been mistakenly released due to a paperwork error before fleeing, later convicted of additional crimes in Colorado and sentenced there.
Texas DPS and Jasper County Sheriff’s Office personnel extradited him from Canon City, Colorado, and he was transferred back to Jasper County to begin serving his original sentence in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
Sheriff Chuck Havard commended the cooperation among law enforcement agencies in securing his return.
