The Junior League of Sarasota launched a $210,000 campaign to furnish five homes for youth aging out of foster care, honoring Nancy Detert.
To mark its 70th anniversary, the Junior League of Sarasota launched “Furnishing Hope at Nancy’s Village,” a $210,000 campaign to fully furnish five homes at a transitional housing community for youth aging out of foster care.
Partnering with CASL, the project supports 20 young adults transitioning to independence, with a $50,000 matching gift challenge from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County.
Donations from $70 to $10,000 help furnish rooms or entire apartments, with larger gifts recognized as Legacy Giving.
The initiative honors Nancy Detert, a former legislator who helped extend foster care support to age 21.
The community is invited to contribute through donations, matching gifts, volunteering, or business partnerships providing furnishings.
Founded in 1957, the Junior League continues its mission of service through leadership and volunteer action.
