Houston Texans safety Jimmie Ward was removed from the NFL's commissioner exempt list after a Montgomery County grand jury declined to indict him on a domestic violence charge. The move does not guarantee his return to play, as the Texans placed him on the physically unable to perform list due to offseason foot surgery. The NFL's personal conduct policy investigation remains ongoing. A civil lawsuit filed by the alleged victim claims Ward assaulted her multiple times, including in front of their young child, while under the influence of methamphetamines, and seeks over $20 million in damages. Ward, 34, recorded 48 tackles and two interceptions in 10 starts last season and has 549 tackles and 10 interceptions in 126 career games with the 49ers and Texans.
