The Supreme Court of India will issue its ruling on October 9 in a suo motu case addressing severe pollution in Rajasthan’s Jojari River, caused by industrial waste from textile and tile factories.
The court, led by Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta, took notice on September 16 after finding the river’s contamination threatens drinking water safety for hundreds of villages, harming both human and animal health.
The bench emphasized urgent action needed from state and central authorities to enforce environmental laws, protect ecosystems, and safeguard public welfare.
The court has directed follow-up measures and allowed Rajasthan’s counsel to submit a status note ahead of the final order.
