ICE agents detained a 5-year-old autistic girl in Leominster, Massachusetts, outside her home, according to her family, who say the action was intended to pressure her father, Edward Hip, a legal resident with an active asylum claim, to surrender.
Video shows agents holding the child and demanding Hip come out, with the mother alleging threats to enter the home and claims of coercive tactics.
Leominster police recovered the girl and returned her to the family.
Two days later, agents arrested Hip on his wife’s birthday.
The family, which has two U.S.-born children, denies any criminal activity and calls for an investigation into the enforcement methods used.
