Greater Sudbury selects PCL Construction to build a $200M downtown event centre, replacing the old arena.
The City of Greater Sudbury has chosen PCL Construction to manage the building of a new downtown event centre, replacing the aging Sudbury Arena.
Selected after a competitive process that began with a June 2024 Request for Proposal, PCL will oversee construction while the city maintains final decision-making authority to ensure alignment with community goals.
The $200 million project, approved by city council in April 2024, aims to revitalize downtown and boost the city’s appeal as a cultural and event destination.
Site prep is set to begin in late 2025, with construction starting in early 2026.
PCL also leads the nearby Cultural Hub project at Tom Davies Square.
