A former Sacred Heart Catholic school site in Sarnia, Ontario, is being redeveloped into luxury seniors’ rental townhomes by Gold Leaf Properties Inc., following the school’s relocation to a renovated building.
The 1.2-hectare property, sold for $2.2 million after receiving multiple offers, will see the demolition of the over-70-year-old school building, though the number of units and timeline remain unspecified.
The sale concludes a series of school infrastructure upgrades, including a $24-million new school and $6.6 million in renovations.
The St. Clair Catholic District School Board confirmed the sale was approved in August and stated it has no immediate plans for using the proceeds, while reaffirming its commitment to students and families.
