A father and son are on trial in Australia for the 2024 murder of a man over a stolen wallet, with evidence showing they followed him before a shotgun was fired.
A father and son, Luke James Picking, 42, and Brodi Picking, 19, are on trial in Victoria’s Supreme Court for the 2024 murder of Abdurhman Jemal, 33, shot in the face and neck in Glenroy, Melbourne.
Prosecutors allege the killing stemmed from a dispute over a stolen wallet, with Brodi accusing Jemal of theft after a prior argument.
Surveillance footage shows the Picking men following Jemal before confronting him, with Luke allegedly firing a shotgun, reportedly saying “you want a f***ing air raid,” before fleeing.
Jemal died after collapsing and honking his car horn.
Brodi claims he was not involved and was elsewhere, while a third man, Ian Harris, 49, faces charges for allegedly helping dispose of the firearm based on messages showing he acted on Luke’s instructions.
The prosecution’s opening statement concluded, and the jury is set to visit the crime scene before the defense presents its case.
All three men have pleaded not guilty.
