Delhi extends Ramlila and Durga Puja hours to midnight during Navratri, with noise limits.
Delhi has extended the permitted hours for cultural and religious events like Ramlila and Durga Puja to midnight, up from 10 p.m., effective September 22 to October 3, allowing uninterrupted celebrations during Navratri.
The decision, approved by Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena, aims to align Delhi’s festival practices with those in other states, such as Gujarat, where events often continue all night.
The extension applies to major Hindu festivals and is subject to noise regulations, with sound levels capped at 45 decibels in residential areas.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized the need for unhindered cultural expression, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the festival with prayers and spiritual messages.
