Bangladesh begins public talks ahead of national election, finalizing rules and symbols for 51 registered parties.
The Bangladesh Election Commission will begin public dialogues on September 28 ahead of the 13th national election, engaging civil society, political parties, women leaders, journalists, academics, and others to promote transparency. The EC has finalized the Code of Conduct and reserved electoral symbols, with 51 parties registered so far out of 143 applicants. The National Citizen Party will not receive the "Shapla" symbol as it is not among the 115 reserved ones, requiring an alternative request. A proposed RPO 1972 amendment remains pending. The Commission aims to complete consultations within one to one and a half months, emphasizing inclusive and fair electoral preparations.
