Anti-immigration activist Derek Blighe, 45, of Mitchelstown, County Cork, was charged with a 10-month harassment campaign against a member of An Garda Síochána, stemming from incidents in February 2023 and later online activity.
He is accused of following, verbally abusing, and live-streaming the officer, who was in civilian clothes, and posting the footage with derogatory comments on social media multiple times between April and December 2023, causing significant distress.
Blighe, who previously led the Ireland First party and received over 25,000 votes in the 2024 European elections, entered no plea and was granted €500 bail with strict conditions including regular check-ins, no contact with the victim, and maintaining a charged phone.
The case will proceed to Cork District Court, with a scheduled appearance on November 18, 2025.
