Agnikul Cosmos launched India’s first private 3D-printing facility for rocket parts, cutting costs and time by half.
Agnikul Cosmos, an Indian space startup, has launched India’s first private large-scale 3D printing facility in Chennai, enabling the production of flight-ready rocket components up to one meter in height. The integrated facility, located at IIT-M Research Park, handles design, printing, post-processing, and testing under one roof, cutting development time and costs by 50%. A key innovation is an in-house de-powdering machine ensuring space-grade quality. The facility supports the Agnibaan SOrTeD rocket, which achieved India’s first private launch from a dedicated pad and featured the world’s first single-piece 3D-printed rocket engine. Backed by $45 million in funding, Agnikul aims to advance India’s private space industry with faster, more efficient rocket manufacturing.
