An 18-year-old former childcare worker in Bathurst, New South Wales, has been charged with common assault after allegedly grabbing, dragging, and throwing a four-year-old boy onto a mattress at a daycare on George Street on July 11, 2025, causing the child’s shirt to tear.
Police from the Chifley Police District launched an investigation on August 29 following a report, and the woman, who is no longer employed at the center, was formally charged on September 22.
She is scheduled to appear in Bathurst Local Court on November 17.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
This marks the second childcare worker arrest in the region within a week.
