Telangana's CM says new GST rates cost ₹7,000 crore in lost revenue, demanding federal compensation.

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that revised GST rates effective September 22, 2025, will cost the state nearly Rs 7,000 crore in revenue, criticizing the central government for unilateral changes without consultation. He warned the loss will impact health, education, welfare, and infrastructure, and demanded five years of Viability Gap Funding as previously agreed. Reddy urged the Union government to compensate for revenue shortfalls exceeding 14% and called for cooperation to protect public services, with Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka to formally request compensation from the Centre.
