Telangana grants record Rs 819 crore bonus to Singareni coal workers, citing worker welfare and state control over coal resources.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced a Rs 819 crore profit-sharing bonus for Singareni Collieries workers, including Rs 1.95 lakh for each of 41,000 regular employees and Rs 5,500 for 30,000 contract workers, marking the highest such payout in the company’s history.
The bonuses, funded by 34% of Singareni’s net profits, were praised as a commitment to worker welfare and state support for the public sector.
Reddy also urged the Union Government to compensate Telangana for an estimated Rs 7,000 crore annual revenue loss due to GST changes and opposed private sector expansion in coal mining, advocating for Singareni Collieries Company Limited to manage state coal assets.
