Taiwan to raise hospital co-pay caps in 2026 due to higher incomes, affecting 11,000 people.
Taiwan will raise the cap on hospital stay co-payments under its National Health Insurance program starting January 1, 2026, increasing the single-stay limit to NT$57,000 and the annual cap to NT$94,000, reflecting higher average incomes.
The change, based on annual adjustments tied to per capita income, is expected to affect about 11,000 people and generate an additional NT$60.93 million in co-payments.
The new rules, which apply to acute and chronic care stays, will undergo a 60-day public review before implementation.
Exemptions remain for those with catastrophic illnesses and low-income households.
