Authorities discovered over 700 kilograms of narcotics—heroin, cannabis, methamphetamine, and nimetazepam—worth more than NT$1.5 billion ($49.6 million), in concealed compartments.
Four Chinese nationals, including the captain and three crew members, were arrested and are being held incommunicado on suspicion of drug trafficking.
Officials believe the vessel was en route to the Dongsha Islands to transfer drugs for distribution in Taiwan.
