Nurse Adekemi Adefidiya has been struck off the nursing register after a misconduct hearing found she deliberately misled Royal Papworth Hospital to secure employment. The Nursing and Midwifery Council upheld 19 allegations, including failing to complete patient observations, neglecting record-keeping, and being dishonest about her past. In 2018, while on sick leave from Barts Health NHS Trust, she worked at Homerton Hospital and was given a final written warning for gross misconduct. She failed to disclose this history when applying for a job at Royal Papworth, which only learned of her disciplinary record in March 2020. After an internal investigation, she was dismissed. The panel ruled her actions were intentional and a significant breach of professional standards, resulting in her removal from the register and an 18-month interim suspension pending any appeal.
