A 63-year-old man in Parit, Malaysia, was fined 2,500 ringgit after pleading guilty to touching and pinching a 23-year-old woman’s cheek in a grocery store, an act intended to outrage her modesty. The incident occurred on September 5 at a Simpang 4 Bota Kanan store during a checkout transaction. The court emphasized that such non-consensual physical contact violates personal boundaries and dignity, regardless of age or status, and noted the victim’s trauma and fear of returning to work. The charge, under Section 354 of the Penal Code, carries penalties of up to 10 years in prison, a fine, or whipping. The man paid the fine and avoided jail time.
