LG Innotek opens new Vietnam plant, doubling smartphone camera module production.
LG Innotek has launched its new V3 smartphone camera module plant in Hai Phong, Vietnam, doubling its global production capacity for standard modules.
The 150,000-square-meter facility is part of a 1.3 trillion won investment plan by 2025, supporting a tri-hub strategy with R&D and premium production in Gumi, South Korea, and advanced tech like 3D sensing in Paju.
Vietnam now serves as the primary mass-production hub, improving supply stability and cost efficiency.
The company is also advancing in-house component production and using AI for faster quality inspection and process optimization, reducing defect analysis time by up to 90 percent and cutting setup time from 72 hours to under six.
These efforts aim to strengthen its global competitiveness in the camera module market.
