Kolkata police filed charges in a rape case using DNA evidence linking accused Mango Mishra to the victim's clothing, with four suspects named.
Kolkata Police have filed a chargesheet in the South Calcutta Law College rape case, citing DNA evidence that matches key accused Monojit "Mango" Mishra to the survivor’s clothing.
The 24-year-old victim reported being assaulted in the college guard room on June 25, and forensic tests confirmed Mishra’s DNA at the scene.
The chargesheet, submitted to the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Alipore court, names Mishra and three others—Pramit Mukherjee, Zaib Ahmed, and a security guard—accused of involvement.
CCTV footage from the college and nearby shops supports the timeline and location of the incident, showing the accused at the scene while the guard failed to act.
Police are awaiting voice analysis from the accused’s phones, which may lead to further charges.
