An Islamabad anti-terrorism court has issued a bailable arrest warrant for PTI leader Asad Qaiser over the 2023 Judicial Complex attack, where protests turned violent after former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s court appearance.
The case, linked to stone-throwing, petrol bombs, and fires, led to 316 arrests and involves multiple charges under the Anti-Terrorism Act and Pakistan Penal Code.
The court, presided by Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra, granted exemption from personal appearance to several PTI leaders, including Parvez Elahi and Asad Umar, allowing them to be represented by lawyers.
The court awaits a response from the Ministry of Law on Imran Khan’s legal status.
The next hearing is set for October 6, 2025.
Separately, a lower court had previously acquitted Qaiser in a related 2022 protest case, citing insufficient evidence and political motives.
