In Pakistan’s Toshakhana II case, former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi are under scrutiny for allegedly withholding gifts from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, including a Bulgari jewellery set valued at over Rs70 million, which was reportedly undervalued and not deposited into the official Toshakhana. A key witness, former military secretary Brigadier (retd) Muhammad Ahmad, testified that the couple directed officials not to record or deposit the items, despite proper documentation. Confessions from Khan’s former personal secretary and a private appraiser support claims that the valuation was manipulated under pressure, with the appraiser stating he feared losing government contracts if he refused. The National Accountability Bureau alleges the undervaluation caused a loss of about Rs35 million to the state. The case involves 108 foreign gifts received during Khan’s 2018–2022 premiership, with only a portion properly accounted for.
