A fire broke out early Monday, Sept. 22, 2025, at the historic 1928 Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Depot in Conway, South Carolina, prompting emergency responses from the Conway and Horry County fire departments around 4:15 a.m.
The blaze caused the temporary closure of a stretch of S.C. Highway 905, disrupting traffic, though the exit route remained open.
No injuries were reported, and officials confirmed the railroad tracks and rail line operated by R.J. Corman Railroad Group were unaffected.
The depot, listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1995, is privately owned and not currently in use.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and the State Law Enforcement Division’s arson unit is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
Damage assessment is pending, and crews continue securing the scene.
