Canal+ has completed its acquisition of MultiChoice, finalizing a $3 billion deal that gives it effective control of the South African broadcaster. The takeover, now unconditional, unites two major media groups with a combined presence in nearly 70 countries across Africa, Europe, and Asia, serving over 40 million subscribers. The transaction, approved by South Africa’s competition authority in July 2025, includes structural changes to meet local ownership rules.
