Brookfield and Solarvest will develop 1.5 GW of solar and storage in Malaysia, marking Brookfield’s first investment there.
Canadian investment firm Brookfield has partnered with Malaysia’s Solarvest Holdings to develop 1.5 gigawatts of utility-scale solar and battery storage projects, marking Brookfield’s first investment in Malaysia via its Catalytic Transition Fund.
The collaboration, structured through a special purpose vehicle with Solarvest holding 51% and Brookfield 49%, will leverage Solarvest’s local expertise and existing 2.3 GW solar portfolio, while Brookfield contributes capital, global networks, and operational experience.
Projects will be developed under Malaysia’s renewable energy programs and aim to support the country’s clean energy transition, driven by rising demand from data centers and semiconductor manufacturing.
The initiative aligns with broader regional momentum in Southeast Asia’s renewable sector, supported by strong policies, growing energy needs, and efforts to enhance grid resilience and decarbonization.
