Two officers injured in Tyrone after a van rammed their car following a hit-and-run and pursuit.
Two police officers in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, were injured Saturday afternoon when their patrol car was rammed head-on by a blue Ford van near Ballymagorry, close to Strabane.
The incident followed a hit-and-run in Derry’s Newbuildings area, where a 26-year-old man, believed to have been under the influence of alcohol, fled.
Officers pursued the van, which collided with their vehicle, leading to the suspect exiting and assaulting both officers before being arrested on suspicion of multiple driving offences, assault on police, and resisting arrest.
Both officers received medical treatment at the scene and in hospital and are now receiving ongoing care and support.
Police praised two members of the public who assisted and are urging witnesses or those with dash-cam or CCTV footage to contact authorities using reference 684 20/09/25.
