Two Nigerian men arrested at Lagos airport had smuggled 116 drug wraps, including heroin and cocaine, in their bodies.

Two Nigerian men were arrested at Lagos' Murtala Muhammed International Airport in late September 2025 after ingesting and expelling a combined 116 drug wraps, including heroin and cocaine, during return flights from Brazil. Ofoma Sunday, 46, admitted to smuggling 1.452kg of heroin for $2,500, linked to a handler arrested in Lagos. Ukachukwu Frank Ikechukwu, 55, expelled five cocaine wraps after losing some during transit. A businesswoman was detained for hiding 1.4kg of methamphetamine in her underwear. The NDLEA also seized large quantities of drugs from shipments, including methamphetamine in food and cocaine in phone chargers, and destroyed cannabis farms in Edo State. Operations were conducted with aviation security and aimed at curbing trafficking.
