A three-alarm fire at a New Orleans hotel killed no one, injured none, and prompted evacuations, with the cause unknown.
A three-alarm fire broke out Sunday morning at the Royal Sonesta hotel on Bourbon Street in New Orleans’ French Quarter, starting in a second-floor storage room and spreading to higher floors.
Firefighters from 21 units, totaling 52 personnel, responded by 11:02 a.m., escalating alarms twice before bringing the fire under control by 12:15 p.m. No injuries were reported, but two people were rescued from a second-floor balcony and another guest in a wheelchair was evacuated from the fourth floor.
Guests and staff evacuated safely to Bourbon Street, with some describing thick smoke.
The cause remains under investigation.
