Sydney police hunt suspect after high-speed chase, officer injured, car abandoned.

A manhunt is underway in Sydney after a suspected stolen Citroen sedan fled police in a high-speed chase beginning around 9:15 p.m. on Saturday in Blacktown, ramming multiple police vehicles and crashing into parked cars in Leichhardt. During a standoff, the car reversed into a 27-year-old officer, causing a concussion; he was hospitalized but has since been released. Police reported one officer fired a weapon and another used a taser, but the driver escaped. The vehicle was later found abandoned in Petersham, and authorities are searching for suspects. Acting Superintendent Adam Solah described the driver’s actions as reckless and extremely dangerous, emphasizing the risk to public safety. In a separate incident, a 36-year-old man was charged with firearm possession without a permit, drug possession, and driving offenses following a prior pursuit and siege in Sydney’s northwest and is expected to appear in Parramatta Bail Court. No fatalities were reported.
