A storm and vandalism caused a tower collapse in Kaduna, disrupting power in parts of Kaduna South on Sept. 18, 2025.
A transmission tower collapse in Rigasa, Kaduna State, on September 18, 2025, caused power outages in parts of Kaduna South due to a combination of severe weather and vandalism.
The tower, part of Kaduna Town Line I and II, fell during heavy rain and strong winds after vandals removed key structural components.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) confirmed the incident, noting disruptions to electricity supply in affected areas, while regions like Kinkinau, Yan Tukwane, Kabala West, Unguwan Muazu, and Kaduna North remained unaffected.
To mitigate the impact, TCN rerouted power from the 33kV Mogadishu feeder to the 33kV Abakwa feeder in coordination with KAEDCO.
Engineers are on-site dismantling the fallen tower and preparing for a replacement.
TCN apologized for the inconvenience and said efforts are ongoing to restore full service as quickly and safely as possible.
