Maharashtra plans to fill 5,500 assistant professor positions in senior colleges by March 2026, with recruitment pending final government approval, according to Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil.
The move, announced during the Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University convocation, aims to strengthen higher education infrastructure and improve teaching quality.
The state also approved 2,900 non-teaching posts.
The recruitment process, previously delayed under a former Governor, will now proceed with the new Governor.
