The International Crimes Tribunal-1 is probing the Awami League for alleged crimes against humanity during the 2024 uprising, with key figures accused and trials ongoing.

Nahid Islam, leader of the National Citizen Party and the July Movement, urged the International Crimes Tribunal-1 to hold the Awami League accountable as a political party for alleged crimes against humanity during the July–August 2024 uprising. Testifying as the 47th witness, he claimed former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina orchestrated violence to retain power, with the tribunal already framing charges against her, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun. Mamun, who became an approver, testified earlier. Three cases are ongoing, alleging killings, enforced disappearances, and violence at a Hefazat-e-Islam rally. The trial continues amid investigations into widespread abuses.
