Delhi to test pollution-reducing coatings on roads in six-month study.
Delhi will conduct a six-month study on photocatalytic coatings that may reduce air pollutants like nitrogen dioxide and harmful hydrocarbons when applied to roads and urban surfaces.
The environment department, led by Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, will select a scientific partner within 30 days to run field trials, share monthly updates, and assess safety, sustainability, cost-effectiveness, and scalability.
If results are positive, the government plans to expand the technology to high-traffic areas, markets, and public spaces.
