flag A Delhi court summons Maxis and former exec over 2006 telecom deal corruption case.

A Delhi special court has issued fresh summons to Malaysian telecom company Maxis and its former director Augustus Ralph Marshall in a long-running corruption case tied to a 2006 FIPB clearance for Maxis’s subsidiary to acquire Aircel. The CBI alleges the investment value was downgraded from ₹3,560 crore to ₹180 crore to bypass Cabinet approval, and claims former Finance Minister P Chidambaram and his son received bribes via shell companies. The agency also seeks summons for Astro All Asia Network and has requested three months to serve notices in Malaysia. A 2014 chargesheet was dismissed in 2017 and is under appeal; a 2018 chargesheet remains pending. Chidambaram has not commented publicly.
