A car crashed into the historic Pantry Cafe in downtown LA early Saturday, causing damage but no injuries.
A sedan crashed into the historic Original Pantry Cafe on Figueroa Street in downtown Los Angeles around 3:04 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, damaging a section of the brick wall and sending debris inside.
No injuries were reported, and while insurance information was exchanged, no arrests were made.
The restaurant, which closed in March after 101 years of operation—much of it as a 24/7 eatery—was recently acquired by developer Leo Pustilnikov, who plans to reopen it on New Year’s Eve.
The incident, captured on video and involving a possible second vehicle, adds to challenges in the redevelopment process.
