An explosion in Tsotyli, northern Greece, on September 19, 2025, injured two men when a World War II-era shell detonated at a yard used for earthmoving machinery around 11:30 a.m. local time. A 54-year-old man suffered severe burns and partial amputations and was hospitalized in critical condition. The 45-year-old man sustained fractures and underwent surgery. Greek army bomb disposal experts confirmed the blast was caused by wartime ordnance after finding ammunition fragments. Authorities have cordoned off the area as investigations continue.
