UW System gets $4.2M for water research, boosting student training and freshwater sustainability efforts.
In 2025, the University of Wisconsin System received $4.2 million in state funding from the Freshwater Collaborative of Wisconsin to support 19 water research and education projects across all 13 campuses.
The funding advances efforts to address water contamination, infrastructure challenges, and environmental stewardship, with projects focusing on issues like PFAS, phosphorus pollution, and harmful algal blooms.
