Rochester teachers approved a new contract with 7.35% pay raises and bonuses tied to district reserves.
The Rochester School Board is set to vote on a new two-year teacher contract approved by the Rochester Education Association, featuring a 7.35% total pay increase over the previous agreement—1.5% this year and 2.3% next year.
The deal includes additional pay for teachers in oversized elementary classrooms and $3,000 annual stipends for certain school nurses and special education teachers.
A key provision links longevity bonuses to the district’s unassigned general fund balance: if it exceeds 1.5 times the minimum reserve, 35% of annual growth will be shared equally among teachers who stay under contract for the full year.
This follows a budget plan to reduce the district’s current 17.4% reserve to 8% by 2026–2027 to address projected shortfalls.
The vote is scheduled for Tuesday.
