Nissan is closing its design studios in California and São Paulo and scaling back operations in London and Japan as part of a global redesign under its "Re:Nissan" turnaround plan.
The company is consolidating design efforts into five hubs: Los Angeles, London, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Atsugi, Japan, with Los Angeles’ Studio Six becoming the primary U.S. center.
London will continue supporting markets in Africa, the Middle East, India, Europe, and Oceania through collaboration with Renault.
The changes, aimed at improving efficiency and profitability, are expected by the end of fiscal 2025.
Nissan also plans to reduce global production capacity to 2.5 million vehicles and cut manufacturing sites from 17 to 10 by 2027.
The company did not disclose job losses from the restructuring.
