Montana launches '406 JOBS' tour to boost workforce participation via training and apprenticeships.
The Montana Department of Labor and Industry is launching a "Montanans at Work" tour across 15 cities to promote the new '406 JOBS' workforce initiative, aimed at boosting labor force participation through apprenticeships, education, entrepreneurship, and military pathways.
The program targets six key industries and uses public-private funding to train workers, including former inmates and those re-entering the workforce.
Despite a low unemployment rate of 2.9%, labor force participation has declined from 63.4% to 62.1% over the past year.
The tour will also address licensing changes, building codes, teacher pay, and updates to workers' compensation and unemployment programs.
