A series of minor earthquakes occurred across Nevada and California on September 20, 2025, with magnitudes ranging from 2.8 to 3.6.
The strongest, a 3.6-magnitude quake, struck 52 kilometers northeast of Valmy, Nevada, at 6:47 a.m. local time, at a shallow depth of about 7.7 kilometers.
Multiple events were recorded in the region over the past 30 days, with 66 quakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater detected in the past year.
Most were felt but caused no significant damage, and all were classified as low-risk with no tsunami threat.
The U.S. Geological Survey confirmed the events, which were detected by 14 to 35 seismic stations, and assigned them low significance ratings.
