A teenage male suspect surrendered in Las Vegas on September 17, 2025, in connection with a series of cyberattacks between August and October 2023 that disrupted major casino operations, including MGM Resorts and Caesars Entertainment. Linked to the cyber threat group Scattered Spider, also known as 0ktapus, the attacks used vishing to compromise internal systems, causing widespread outages and an estimated $100 million in losses. The suspect faces multiple felony charges, including identity theft, extortion, conspiracy, and unauthorized computer use. The Clark County District Attorney’s Office is seeking to transfer the case to adult court. The investigation was led by the FBI’s Las Vegas Cyber Task Force and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Cyber Investigative Group.
