A Jeopardy! controversy over game answer accuracy led to penalties, but challenger Steven Olson won, becoming champion.

episode drew controversy when host Ken Jennings rejected answers like "GoldenEye" and "007 GoldenEye" for a clue about the video game GoldenEye 007, ruling only "GoldenEye 007" correct.
Contestant Paolo Pasco, a reigning champion, and challenger Steven Olson, a band director from Illinois, were both penalized $1,000.
Despite the dispute, Olson gained momentum in Double Jeopardy, finding two Daily Doubles and leading with $17,400.
In Final Jeopardy, both correctly identified Kazakhstan in reference to a Borat quote, but Olson wagered more, finishing with $19,602 to Pasco’s $17,401.
Olson became the new champion and will return on September 22.
