Iowa Representative Mike Sexton, a Republican from Rockwell City and fourth-generation farmer, has resigned from the Iowa House of Representatives effective September 19, 2025, to become the state director for USDA Rural Development in Iowa, appointed by President Donald Trump.
Sexton, who served six terms and chaired the House Agriculture Committee, will oversee federal programs supporting rural infrastructure, business development, and home ownership.
