A £243,000 gas pipe upgrade began on Draycott Road in Cheddar on September 15, 2025, to ensure a reliable gas supply and prepare the network for future green gas transport.
Work, led by Wales & West Utilities in collaboration with Somerset Council, is expected to finish before Christmas, with a rolling two-way traffic light system in place until November 7 and additional work on Cross Farm Road starting November 10 without traffic controls.
The project supports over 7.5 million customers across Wales and the South West, maintaining safety and reliability for heating, cooking, and hot water.
Local businesses will remain open, and residents are encouraged to contact the company for questions or call 0800 111 999 for gas emergencies.
