French swimmers to attempt 3,800km Atlantic relay swim from Cape Verde to Guadeloupe starting Nov. 1, 2025, aiming to set records and raise ocean awareness.
French swimmers Matthieu Witvoet and Chloe Leger Witvoet are preparing for a three-month relay swim across the Atlantic Ocean, starting November 1, 2025, from Cape Verde to Guadeloupe, covering about 3,800 kilometers.
They aim to set records for the longest female ocean crossing and longest drifting relay swim, swimming six hours daily while resting on a drifting catamaran.
The couple, experienced in long-distance swims, have trained for two years with up to four hours of daily swimming.
Their expedition includes a nurse and four crew members, and it supports a broader mission to raise ocean awareness, engaging over 63,000 schoolchildren in weekly lessons on marine biodiversity and pollution.
Success is defined not just by completion, but by inspiring environmental action.
