A Chicago man was charged after attacking police with a knife, sparking a shootout that left him and an off-duty officer hospitalized.
A 55-year-old Chicago man, Antonio Wallace, was charged with multiple felonies after allegedly approaching police with a large knife in the Austin neighborhood on September 17.
Officers confronted him around 11:06 p.m. at the 5200 block of W. Madison Street, issuing commands and using Tasers before one fired, wounding Wallace, who was hospitalized in serious but stable condition.
He faces charges including aggravated assault on a police officer and possession of a weapon as a felon.
Around the same time, a 19-year-old, Jeremiah Myles, was charged after allegedly attacking an off-duty Broadview detective with a knife in the Greater Grand Crossing area, leading to the officer firing his weapon.
Myles was apprehended nearby and taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Both incidents are under investigation, and the involved officers are on administrative leave.
