Andhra Pradesh aims to eliminate single-use plastics by June 2026 as part of the Swarnandhra-Swachandra initiative, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced during a visit to Palnadu district.
He highlighted efforts to clear 85 lakh tonnes of waste, support sanitation workers through cash incentives and awards, and launch waste-to-energy plants in four cities.
The state will also develop Macharla as a model municipality, advance major irrigation and river-linking projects, and continue cleanliness campaigns until October 2.
Additional welfare measures include cash transfers to auto rickshaw drivers and reduced GST on essential goods.
